Hobbies

This is where I'm going to put down, in writing, my hobbies.  (Well, duh!-Comment from first viewer)

Two things I love to do-
  • Fiddle with computers-(ie, play with software/hardware, program, build computers out of spare parts)
  • Play Magic

I love computers.  I grew up in a computer-oriented household.  My mother teaches computer programming, my father sells programs, and can write quite a few, my brother is majoring in different computer courses in college, and I have had a fair amount of experience with computers.  Also, we have boxes of spare parts that we salvaged from older, less useful computers that we have bought in the past, or gotten from my dad's company, so I played with these parts, and by 9 or 10, I could build a working computer.  I bet that many of you visiting my site will be as enthused as I am about computers.  This is truly a computer-oriented age.

Magic

I learned to play Magic at SIG, which stands for Summer Institute for the Gifted.  See more at my SIG page: Summer Institute for the Gifted
You may think Magic is another one of those dumb card games.  Before you go around spouting about how bad the game is, think about this.  This game been around for about 11 years.  Pokemon and that new game Yu-Gi-Oh are based on Magic.  Pokemon was originally supposed to be a fighting game, like Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh, but it became a trading fad instead.  Magic has a lot of strategy involved.  There is some luck involved, but you do have to think about what cards to use when.  For the entire list of Magic rules, go to:
When I first played the game, I was skeptical about how much strategy could be involved.  But when I played the game, I realized that it was very strategy-oriented.  I'm not saying that you should go out and buy a deck, but you should at least watch a game or play one if you can find a friend who plays it and will teach you. You can play online as well. You can play with other Magic players online.  You get a preset deck, and you play the person.  If you win enough games, you can create a custom deck.  But I've said enough about Magic.
